The Influence of the Moral Hazard on the Entrepreneurial Activity

AbstractThe main aim of this paper is to examine the influence of moral hazard on the process of new company creation and development by determining the areas of the company’s operations within which the impact of moral hazard can be observed. The phenomenon of moral hazard is difficult to examine under real life conditions; therefore, an experiment was carried out in the form of a virtual strategy game. The participants of the experiment were Master’s degree students at one of business universities in Poland and they were acting as founders and owners of virtual enterprises. The structure of the chapter is the following: in the next sections the state of the art on the process of new company creation was reviewed and the influence of financial constraints, mostly moral hazard, on the entrepreneurial process. Then, the methodological aspects of the research are presented. The following section describes the results of the experiment and discusses the conclusions.
