Zatrudnienie i bezrobocie wśród młodzieży w Polsce i w krajach Unii Europejskiej

Agnieszka Ziomek

Youth unemployment is one of the most important problems in the EU member states. The number of youth population decreases constantly and serious adjustment creates changes in economy. Market mechanism and its operation cause the increase in the total unemployment accompanied by (three times) higher unemployment among young people (under the age of 25). Eurostat data confi rm that only 50% of young labour market participants aged 20–24 are employed. Low level of employment can not always be explained by education obligation. Many young people neither work nor study. Currently, in the selected EU countries, youth unemployment reaches 40% of population and long-term unemployment in this group. This brings the necessity to redefi ne the upbringing and schooling models in the future.
