Minerals consumption with drinking water and functional beverages by a physically active people. Preferences and meaning
AbstractUndeniably water is an essential element of food. Thanks to it, we can significantly supplement the deficiency of minerals in the daily diet. Appropriate quantitative ratio between the individual components is an important indicator of the health quality of drinking water. Favorable bioavailability of all elements are due to an ionic form of water and functional beverages. Water and functional beverages can contain up to four times more calcium and magnesium than the tap water. Some research indicate that water and functional beverages may constitute up to 25% of the daily requirement of calcium and 17% magnesium. Daily consumption adequate amounts of these products may play an important role in preventing osteoporosis, hypertension and other cardiovascular disorders. The aim of the work and the research was to assess the preferences and determine of the importance of drinking water and functional beverages, and an indication of the minerals role contained in them among people with an active lifestyle. The volume of consumption of water and functional beverages is not the primary source of supply of minerals in the body, but they can play a complementary role.
