Relational Database Template in the Simulation Modeling of Manufacturing Systems

In this paper we present the use of a relational database template in the modeling of manufacturing systems. The main contribution of the authors is development of a relational scheme of an abstract workstation that is used to model production systems. The workstation in the meaning used in this article can be a regular workstation, but also another object (e.g. warehouse or logistic team), depending on the characteristics. The most important points of the article are: using the PFEP (Plan For Every Part) as main integrator of the model, introduction of the concept of topography of the factory, description of the topography and implementation of the proposed solution in a simulation application.
