Abstract

The aim of this study is to present, analyze and assess the level and relations of labour costs and productivity in Poland and the European Union.The analyses of labour markets in the European Union state that these markets are characterized by very similar measures regarding the levels of professional activity, unemployment rate and efficiency of labour market policy programs. However, the difference in the level of wages still remains high. Among the reasons for this phenomenon we can indicate the levels of labour costs and productivity,which determine the levels of wages in particuiar member states. Thus the subject of this paper is the analysis of the levels of labour costs and productivity in Poland versus those in European Union. The thesis stated in the study is that the maintained differences in wages in the European Union may be explained by differences in the levels and relations of labour costs and productivity,which are discussed in detail in the study.

Abstract in PolishAnalizy rynku pracy w Unii Europejskiej wskazują na występowanie wielu podobnych miar związanych z aktywnością zawodową,stopą bezrobocia oraz efektywnością programów polityki rynku pracy. Jednakże różnice między poziomem płac w poszczególnych krajach pozostają nadal wysokie. Jednym z powodów takiego stanu rzeczy może być zróżnicowanie kosztów pracy, które mogą determinować poziom płac w poszczególnych krajach.
