Abstract

The purpose of the article is to assess the professionalism of NGOs in solving local social problems. The subject of interest was the NGO's approach to diagnosing social needs and evaluating effects of their activities as well as the scope of their cooperation with external partners. An attempt has been made to determine whether professionalism in these activities is associated with modifying longterm goals and strategies. Qualitative research has been conducted on the basis of 10 NGOs from Wielkopolska based on self-assessment questionnaires and reports from audits. It has been found that the level of professionalism of the respondents is diverse. Despite this, they are able to adapt their activities to the mission of the organisation and social needs.
