Abstract

Goal: the main objective of the article was defined as the recognition of risk areas of different types of inter-organizational cooperative relations, which are the biggest threat for small business entities, with particular emphasis on family businesses.Research methodology: the study presents the results of the empirical research employing an in-depth survey, direct interview carried out on a sample of 159 small entities located in Poland, of which around 85% were family businesses. The collected empirical material was processed using the methods of descriptive statistics and Pearson’s correlation analysis.Result: empirical studies have shown that occasional relations are the safest for small enterprises. However, companies that care about development must make much more advanced relationships. By building ties with a higher level of engagement, small, including family-owned enterprises must pay attention to the increasing safety and reliability of operations, which is possible through effective risk managemen
