The importance of healthcare inequities in sustainable development

Abstract

Te aim of this study is to evaluate the outpatient department distribution across regions of Poland and to identify inequities in access to them among urban and rural areas. In the frst part of the article, the importance of equitable distribution of health resources for sustainable rural development is presented. For the empirical study, data was drawn from Statistics Poland and the Gini coefcient was employed for equity measurement. Te results and discussion section confrms the existence of inequity in the distribution of outpatient departments, and also inequities in the case of rural communities in comparison to urban ones.
